The Forum is where members get to comment on the Big Book or on the steps or on others comments. Forums grow organically as members dig deep on a subject or create a dialog with our whole group. You get to see the perspective from members all over the world and you get to say what you think. It's a lot of fum and the Alcoholics Anonymous Online Group invites everyone to participate. Visitors can read all the posts and members can post what they would like.

It's easy to do just hit the reply button below the post you would like to comment on then write what you like and hit submit, it's that easy. We are looking forward to see what you think.

The Forum for the Study of Alcoholics Anonymous refers to the book from which the fellowship took its name. We have found that the Big Book contains the instructions for working the 12 Steps. The instructions are quite simple while the spiritual principles that are at their foundation are profound and life-changing. This is a book worth studying.

As a starting point for our study we have posted the book page by page. We have numbered every sentence to facilitate references. We also have posted commentary on many paragraphs or sentence, again, as a starting point for conversation and study.

We invite everyone to add their own commentary on the text and/or on our commentary. It’s easy to do and once you get the hang of it we expect you will enjoy the study.

To begin, click on the Study Forum tab on the top menu of the home page. This will take you to the forum.

If you do not login you will be able to read all the postings but not post yourself. Registered users may read and post. To create a new user account, click the ‘Create A New Account’ link. User account activation need not include any personally identifying information. Choose a username that does not include your surname. Email account activation maintains the integrity of the Forum by preventing multiple accounts under a single email address. Each person may have only one account. After activating your account you may login by clicking on the Login link in the top section of the Forum. (Currently logging in to the Forum sends you back to the home page. Just click on the Forum tab again and you will be logged in. This is an annoying bug that we are working to fix)

We recommend joining the study by examining the text and posts for the Foreword. This will give you an idea of how we approach the study of the A.A. Big Book. Continue on with the Doctors Opinion. Chapter 1 of the book is Bills Story. The text and posts continue chapter by chapter through the first 164 pages. We have also posted the 39 original personal stories with commentary and finish with the discussion of Spiritual experiences in Appendix II of Alcoholics Anonymous.

Please note throughout the text and commentaries we omit apostrophes and that some words may be oddly rendered. This is due to the electronic media that we are using to communicate with one another in our study of Alcoholics Anonymous. As we trudge the road of happy destiny together at the speed of light, please forgive technical anomalies and glitches. We are doing the best we can with what we have. Send us a short email describing the problem and we will begin to work to correct the problem.

Please see our Intellectual Property and Copyrighted Material section for guidelines concerning materials that may or may not be posted.

This is a new medium for AA meetings but there is a long history of people participating in Alcoholics Anonymous via the telephone or postal service. We hope we can be of service to A.A.s around the world.

AA meetings and it's members are accepting and will embrace you because we all suffer with the same defects of character. Insecurity is a common bond. Reach out and you will reassured.

I wanna start here
written by DontWantTheInsanity , May 24, 2010
I have been sober for years I have a "Acceptance Issue" with the soberiety date/anniversaries.. It was "never" spoken of in the manner it's spoken of today... "If you drink...OOPS! you lose your soberiery date??? Bill W. nor Dr. Bob wrote about this... In Bill Sees It-His only suggestion was call your sponsor and tell your sponsor and get to a meeting... It tends to be a "victim" ritual around here.

With that said, I don't want to get back into the mental, and emotional madness and I see that in myself. So I'm reaching out.

Thanks

I went to my first meeting this morning. Only a few people. I am very shy and awkward and I am hoping this site will help me as I try to overcome my shyness at my meetings.
